Finding Us & Parking

Where exactly does the boat depart from in Exmouth?

Our traditional wooden fishing vessel, the Southern Angler, departs directly from Exmouth Marina. When you arrive at the marina, look out for the dynamic departure point signage near the gangways. We recommend looking at your booking confirmation email for exact instructions.

Where is the best place to park near the Exe Fishing departure point?

There is plenty of pay-and-display parking available directly at Exmouth Marina or along the two miles of Exmouth Seafront. Please keep in mind that East Devon waterfront parking gets incredibly busy during the peak summer months, so give yourself plenty of extra time to park before your 15-minute boarding window opens. A full list of postcodes for car parks near-by include:

  • Exmouth Pier Head Car (Private Car Park with cash, card and Ringo Payment options) EX8 1FE 1-minute flat walk
  • Camperdown Car Park EX8 1EH 5-minute flat walk
  • Train Station Car Park EX8 1DB 10-minute flat walk
  • Maer Road Car Park EX8 2DB 25-minute flat walk

Our Trips & What to Expect

Where do your fishing trips take us along the Devon coast?

Our mackerel and reef fishing trips head out into the bay just off  the spectacular gateway to the World Heritage Site Jurassic Coast. You’ll get to enjoy stunning views of the South Devon cliffs while fishing. Depending on the trip, will depend on how far into the bay we travel.

Can we keep the fish we catch on the River Exe or out at sea?

Absolutely! With Exe Fishing, you can keep everything you catch. Even better, our friendly local crew will gut and prepare your fresh mackerel or reef fish right on board the boat. You can take your catch straight back to dry land to cook up back at home.

Do you offer fishing trips all year round?

No, our season usually runs from the end of April to October, however, this is subject to change. Please get in touch if you are interested in joining us but cannot see a date available as we may not have added this to the online timetable.

Will I get sea sick?

The answer to this question varies depending on the individual! It is worth noting we will never go out in unsuitable sea conditions and as a general rule of thumb, people do not get sea sick.

Life On Board & Amenities

What facilities are on board the Southern Angler?

The Southern Angler is a well-respected fixture of the Exmouth seascape. To keep you fishing in comfort, the boat is equipped with a clean toilet and a small selection of light refreshments. Because she is a traditional, open fishing boat with no overhead cover, we strongly advise dressing appropriately for the South Devon coastal weather. This includes warmer clothing even on a hot day.

Can I bring my dog along on a coastal cruise?

Yes, on our Mackerel trips! We love welcoming well-behaved dogs on board our cruises. We just politely ask that your four-legged co-captains are kept on a lead at all times.

About your Booking

How can I book a ticket?

The quickest, easiest way to book a ticket is online via our timetable page. You can also call us on 07928 273421 or by visiting in person to either the Winch Room (EX8 1XA) or Stuart Line Cruises (EX8 1FE).

Do I need to book my tickets in advance?

Many of our fishing trips are fully booked in advance of the day so we always recommend booking in advance if you are able to do so. We cannot guarantee spaces being available on any of our trips if you just turn up on the day. However, we are able to accept walk on passengers if there is space available.

I can no longer attend my booking, can I have a refund?

If you have purchased a ticket for a cruise and it is your choice not to sail, we cannot offer you a refund. Many of our trips are fully booked in advance and we have to turn people away. We will only offer refunds if we have made the decision to cancel a trip. If we receive enough notice to be able to resell your tickets then you may be offered to transfer your tickets to a later date, however, this is at the manager’s discretion and their decision is final and there is a £5 admin fee applied.

Why would you cancel a fishing trip?

Our fishing trips are subject to weather, tide, and local conditions. Your safety aboard our boat is paramount to us and therefore it is sometimes necessary to cancel or postpone a trip. W would not want to take you out if the conditions were uncomfortable.

In the event we cancel a trip, we will email you with a choice of options that could include a full refund, transfer or credit.
